What flieker is
flieker is a free tool that helps you decide what to watch. Instead of scrolling endlessly through streaming catalogues, you answer a short set of questions about your mood, the kind of story you want, how much attention you feel like giving a film, and the tone you're after. flieker then returns a small, ranked list of films chosen to fit that moment — not just a genre.
It was built out of a specific frustration: the "what should we watch tonight?" stalemate, where twenty minutes disappear before anything gets picked. flieker is designed to end that in about a minute.
How the recommendations work
Your answers are turned into a short taste profile — mood, pacing tolerance, appetite for challenge, preference for character or plot, openness to darker or more unconventional material. That profile is sent to a large language model, which cross-references it against film metadata: genre, themes, era, runtime, critical consensus and audience scores.
The result is filtered for quality (a rating floor is applied) and deliberately mixes well-known titles with less obvious ones, so the list isn't just the same ten films everyone already knows. Every recommendation links through to a detail page with the synopsis, cast, trailer and — where available — a breakdown of which services currently stream, rent or sell it in your country.
The "where to watch" data
Streaming availability changes constantly and varies by country. flieker pulls availability from several sources and merges them, preferring direct links to the title on each service. Because catalogues shift week to week, treat it as a strong hint rather than a guarantee — always confirm on the provider before you commit.
Who it's for
Anyone who watches films and is tired of the decision overhead — couples, friends on a call trying to sync a movie night, or a solo viewer who wants something that actually matches the evening. There's no sign-up, no profile to maintain, and your quiz answers never leave your browser.
How flieker is funded
flieker is free and intended to stay that way. Running costs (AI usage, hosting, data APIs) are covered by advertising. Ads are only shown after you consent, and you can decline non-essential cookies at any time via the banner or your Cookie Policy settings.

Film metadata, posters and images are provided by The Movie Database (TMDB). This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB. AI recommendations are generated using Anthropic's Claude API. How your data is handled is set out in full in our Privacy Policy.
